List 2: Summer

What I'm loving about Summer

Daylight savings - long days - can spend more time outside -the sun is just setting in the photo above just before 9pm.
Going to the beach for sand and water fun!
School holidays - which means some work holidays for me. Getting to do fun things with the kids.
The warmth - can wear funky dresses rather than jeans and coats, can play outdoors

     Strawberries and ice-cream

    What I could live without

    • Daylight savings - so hard to get the kids to bed at a sensible time as it's still so light out!
    • Hot rides to work on trains without air conditioning
    • Days over 40 degrees - to hot too do anything
    • Humidity - so sticky - feel like you need to shower multiple times per day
    • Flies and mosquito's

Linking up with Deb at Listmania.

      1. It certainly have it's positives and negatives, but I think if I didn't have kids it would be all positive!

    2. Definitely agree it's much harder getting kiddies to bed when it's still daylight out. I struggle even getting dinner before 9pm some nights cos I don't realise it's gotten so late.

It's horrible getting the kids to bed during daylight savings. Can't believe I didn't put that on my list.

    8. How lucky you are to be near the beach. Great lists I hear you about not being able to get kids to sleep early.

    9. Love yr lists. I cannot imagine coping in 40 degrees especially with children! We live 90 miles north of the equator so bedtime is dark year round...whenever we go home to New Zealand in the summer daylight saving is a nightmare.

Nearly the end of January and I can feel it already getting darker earlier, or is that just my imagination. xxx Rae

    12. I find it interesting that many southerners have mentioned daylight savings as a con for summer. I'd love to have it here in QLD!

      1. It always confused me when we visited our sister in QLD in summers and it would be dark by 6.30pm - but sunny by 5am in the morning!
